Suzuki Cars History

At Suzuki, we see ourselves as a brand for the future. That's why we spend our time designing cars that allow customers to live their lives the way they want.

About Suzuki Ireland

Founded in Japan in 1930, Suzuki first arrived in Ireland in 1985.

We’d already gained a reputation for innovation – guess who first thought of fitting an engine to a bicycle?

Our reputation for an innovation has been maintained through our passenger car and 4x4 ranges which include models such as the Grand Vitara, the Swift and the new SX4.

These days we pride ourselves on building stylish, innovative vhiciles that offer unbeatable value for money and driving enjoyment.

From ground-breaking 4x4’s to versatile city cars and even a hot hatch, there’s a Suzuki that’s right for you.

Global recognition of the trademark

We’ve come along way since the original Suzuki Loom Works opened for business in Hamamatsu, Japan, in 1909. Incorporated in 1929, Suzuki came to international attention with the first reliable, affordable motorized bicycle. We followed this with ground-breaking 125cc motorcycle, and later a lightweight car, that revolutionized the automotive industry in both Japan and further afield.

Today, the Suzuki name is known and respected throughout the world. Cars, motorcycles, marine engines, generators – even prefabricated housing – bearing our distinctive trademark are renowned for their consistent quality, originality and reliability. Through continuous R&D at our world-class facilities in Yokohama and Hamamatsu, our products are constantly evolving to meet our customers’ changing demands. And with manufacturing centres in 26 countries, we’re superbly placed to meet the future needs and challenges of what’s now a truly global market.

The Suzuki story has been over 90 years in the making. We can’t wait to see what happens next.
